The M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a 1-year, fully online postgraduate programme offered by the English Language Centre at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). Ans: The English Language Centre of JGU was established in 2012 under the headship of Prof. Jagdish Batra. The main objective of the English Language Centre (ELC) is to be the epicentre of teaching and learning of English in all the four language skills including reading, writing, listening and speaking. It plays the role of an active partner in acknowledging the aspirations of students to become global citizens through the effective use of English with the different schools of the university including Law, Business, International Affairs, Government and Public Policy, Liberal Arts and Journalism, Architecture, Banking and Finance, etc. ELC aims to create awareness about the aesthetics of the English language through different activities like story writing, debates, discussions, public speech competitions and poetry recitations which are conducted under the banner of English Literary Society. Students from different schools are invited to participate in these events to improve their knowledge of English language and literature.

Ans: Yes. O.P. Jindal Global University has been recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In September 2019, O.P. Jindal Global University was selected as an 'Institution of Eminence' (IOE) by the Government of India, making O.P. Ans: Students who complete the programme will earn a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), equivalent in academic weight to an on-campus degree (no mention of online in the degree title). While the degree title will not specify the online mode of learning, this detail will be noted on the back side of the certificate in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission, Government of India.
