The M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a one-year, fully online postgraduate programme offered by the English Language Centre at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU). Designed for both aspiring and experienced educators, the programme integrates theory, practice, and research to develop advanced skills in English language teaching.
It offers an in-depth understanding of second language acquisition, innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum design, assessment strategies, and digital pedagogy. Through interactive coursework, live sessions, and close faculty mentorship, students cultivate the ability to design and deliver learner-centred lessons that are inclusive and sensitive to linguistic and cultural diversity. The curriculum encourages the application of linguistic theories to real-world contexts while integrating technology and AI to enhance language learning experiences. With options for specialization and a capstone project, graduates emerge as reflective, research-driven educators ready to lead in schools, universities, NGOs, and corporate training environments—embodying JGU’s vision of nurturing globally competent and socially responsible teachers who can inspire learners and transform classrooms across borders.

The English Language Centre of JGU was established in 2012 under the headship of Prof. Jagdish Batra. The main objective of the English Language Centre (ELC) is to be the epicentre of teaching and learning of English in all the four language skills including reading, writing, listening and speaking. It plays the role of an active partner in acknowledging the aspirations of students to become global citizens through the effective use of English with the different schools of the university including Law, Business, International Affairs, Government and Public Policy, Liberal Arts and Journalism, Architecture, Banking and Finance, etc. ELC aims to create awareness about the aesthetics of the English language through different activities like story writing, debates, discussions, public speech competitions and poetry recitations which are conducted under the banner of English Literary Society. Students from different schools are invited to participate in these events to improve their knowledge of English language and literature.
